Remote Health
As part of Mass General Brigham’s Digital Care Transformation initiative, Remote Health is revolutionizing the way people get and stay healthy.
With an initial focus on heart disease, we’ve assembled the best in cardiovascular medicine — internationally known physicians and researchers — working side by side with experts from the fields of technology, engineering and data science. Together, we’re developing methods to capture and analyze health data, while reinventing clinical workflows to improve each patient’s experience and journey to improved health.
Our team creates innovative clinical products that disrupt the traditional clinical care model for the benefit of patients and the healthcare system.
United to transform patient care delivery
Healthcare is at an important juncture. On the one hand, research into human biology is rapidly discovering novel disease pathways, unlocking new diagnostic and therapeutic potential. Yet health outcomes, particularly in the US, are not keeping up: life expectancy is actually decreasing. Additionally, care in the US is comparatively expensive, and social factors — the “social determinants of health” — remain disproportionate drivers of morbidity and mortality.
Meanwhile, digital medicine and health information technology are at something of a renaissance. Novel or newly-available data, coupled with significant advances in machine learning techniques like artificial neural networks, have created important breakthroughs, particularly in fields like radiology, pathology, and ophthalmology. More than 93% of all non-federal acute care US hospitals now possess certified electronic health record (EHR) systems.
We believe that harnessing the potential of digital medicine can push healthcare into the next frontier.
