What to do if you have symptoms

If you’re having symptoms, use this information to figure out what to do next.

IF you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms...

  • New or severe headache
  • Lightheadedness
  • Unclear thinking
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Visual changes
  • Nausea or vomiting

AND your systolic blood pressure (top #) is greater than 180...

THEN dial 911.

IF you are experiencing no symptoms...

AND your systolic blood pressure (top #) is greater than 200...

THEN recheck your blood pressure in an hour.

If your BP stays greater than 200, then:

  • Call Remote Health (Mon–Fri 8:30am–4:00pm)
  • Call your PCP (nights, weekends, and holidays)

IF you are feeling lightheaded or dizzy...

AND your systolic blood pressure (top #) is less than 90...

THEN recheck your blood pressure in an hour.

If you are still feeling lightheaded or dizzy, then:

  • Call Remote Health (Mon–Fri 8:30am–4:00pm)
  • Call your PCP (nights, weekends, and holidays)
